This seam ripper is perfect for the sewer in your life. Margaret has one and uses it for her sewing. It’s a nice upgrade to the seam rippers you typically get in stores. The larger handle is more ergonomic. When you’re done with the seam ripper you just flip it over and store it in the handle. Then you can carry it around without it poking anything.
